The Appwiz Challenge in its 3rd year running, is a challenge designed to identify start-ups using Mobile technology as an enabler to develop Innovative and Unique solutions. The challenge also enables these start-ups to grow and scale from just a prototype into a full product which can be launched into the market.
Customer Engagement Solutions: These are mobile solutions which can be used by businesses to better engage with their customers in a fun, new, creative and revolutionary way to promote their existing products and services. E.g Sending your name or the name of your hometown to a certain SMS code or application and having it printed on the packaging of a product.
Safaricom Customer Pain point solutions: These are mobile solutions that cater to gaps within one of Safaricom’s products or services. E.g Safaricom M-Ledger. The apps should not include feedback to existing products or services, but should be actual enhancements to a Safaricom product and service which designed to bridge that gap.
Mobile Convenience: Solutions developed on Mobile that can be able to provide convenience to everyday activities carried out by customers. Examples are Lipa Stima/Maji etc via Mpesa, Okoa Stima. These solutions should not include new types of “Lipa” or “Okoa” as we have these covered.
Out of the Box Solutions: Safaricom is looking for start-ups that have developed solutions deemed crazy, novel, and impossible and out of the box. These solutions may include but are not limited to Machine to Machine Technology (M2M) and Robotics that leverage on Mobile communication.
