Safaricom’s Daraja team did it again we were excited to be part of the 3rd Edition of Nairobi Tech Week, Sub Saharan Africa’s largest tech event, whose aim is to bring all actors and influencers in the tech ecosystem in one space, fostering conversations and learnings around various relevant technology-related topics.

Theme: “The Role of Technology in Problem Solving for Africa’s Future.”

Date: Thur., April 19 – Sat., April 21, 2018

Venue: Strathmore University

This April, in conjunction with Moringa School and the title sponsor, Microsoft, Nairobi Tech Week presented a 3-day event that was packed with panel discussions, workshops and a hackathon where incredible prizes were won.

Safaricom being one of the Sponsors conducted a well-attended workshop dubbed STK push integration to M-Pesa.

This session was an exciting systematic walk through of the integration process of the M-Pesa Express API and M-Pesa express use cases.

With amazing successes and excitement from the attendees of the workshop to get an STK push on their mobile phones. We believe that it was a productive session, educative and empowering the developers to take advantage of the available payment platform, integrate their paybills and till numbers to the API service and simplify payment process for customers enabling their businesses to track payments with ease.

For the developers the use cases were a revelation on the possibilities of STK Push and we believe that this will empower them to drive innovation around M-Pesa to another level.

For the first time, Nairobi Tech Week hosted Nairobi Tech week Awards, in a bid to recognize companies playing influential roles and driving impact within Silicon Savannah.

The main aim being to launch a community-driven technology event focused on developers, thought leaders within the tech space as well as the best innovations in Sub Saharan Africa

Through similar partnerships as was with Moringa School, we are looking to reach out to more developers through the hubs, online developer forums, universities, etc. to drive more awareness and usage of the Daraja as a payments enabler for businesses.
